Master Gardeners.
Master Gardeners are volunteers who support Penn State Cooperative Extension's educational programs in consumer horticulture. They develop their horticultural expertise through participation in educational programs conducted by Penn State University faculty and cooperative extension staff. The Penn State Master Gardener Program of Centre County began in 1996 with twelve volunteers. They now have over 60 volunteers and have logged literally thousands of hours of volunteer time in our community answering questions that come into the Cooperative Extension office by phone, teaching classes, helping with educational gardening projects, and writing articles for local publications to name just a few things. If you are interested in learning more about the Penn State Master Gardeners of Centre County, e-mail Molly Sturniolo at mas79@psu.edu or call the Centre County Cooperative Extension at 814-355-4897.
